What a momentous occasion for Karāpiro! The reopening of the Lake Karāpiro Dam Road isn't just about infrastructure—it’s about reconnecting a community that’s been divided for for nearly 3 years. The sheer scale of the $90 million upgrade to the hydro power station is awe-inspiring, especially considering its historical roots dating back to the 1940s. To see such a legacy preserved and modernised for future generations is a testament to both engineering excellence and community resilience.Thank you Mercury Energy and to the team who have led this project.  

And for those on the State Highway One side, we are incredibly pleased to be able to access Maungatautari Road again via the dam returning to us easy access again to our friends, family and facilities such as Lake Karāpiro's Mighty River Domain and the Te Awa Cycle trail.  This reconnection brings back the rhythm of everyday life.
